Our Eider down is hand collected from the bird’s nests at Eider duck sanctuaries. For generations farmers have been nurturing these birds. The birds are not harmed because they are protected by law. The farmers only take the down from the nest when the nesting period is over as to not disturb the birds.
The outer shell of this duvet is made of 100% Egyptian combed cotton and extremely light weight. It is chemical free (German - Oeko symbol) and woven especially for this type of down. For that extra touch we give this duvet gold piping.
Construction of our shells is a hand sewn sealed baffle box stitch to prevent the down from shifting and to allow the maximum loft. The Eider down is rated a 700 loft which is not the highest loft of down but because the Eider down is very dense and clings it actually has the insulation value of 850-900 loft. Like all our down it is Ultra – Fresh ( certified to be Hypo-allergenic).
